This is a consultancy role with the potential to hire with our partner GAF.  Founded in 1886, GAF has become North America’s largest manufacturer of commercial and residential roofing (Source: Fredonia Group study). Candidate Profile:

  • Post 9/11 Veteran-honorably discharged, OR
  • Current National Guard / Reservist
  • Availability to work full-time


As a Junior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for infrastructure maintenance and changes to our customers environments. You will diagnose problems, resolve support requests and maintain voice infrastructure, routers, switches, and access points


  • Assists with the design, installation and support of network communications
  • Maintain network systems
  • Maintain Cisco routers, switches and firewalls
  • Maintain routing tables / redistributions
  • Maintain SolarWinds and other network monitoring and performance tools

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Technical Skills
    • Citrix Netscaler
      • Strong working knowledge of Citrix Load Balancers
      • Should be able to fully configure, manage and troubleshoot systems
    • Cisco Routing
      • Strong knowledge of routing protocols, especially EIGRP and BGP
      • Should be able to configure Cisco routers
      • Capabilities should include:
        • Managing routing tables / redistributions
        • Managing ACL’s
        • Configuring HSRP / VRRP
    • Cisco Switching
      • Strong working knowledge of switching technologies
      • Should be able to configure / manage Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches
      • Capabilities should include:
        • IP SLA tracking
        • Span port creations
        • EtherChannel / Port-Channel creations
        • VTP management
        • VLAN creations / filtering
        • DHCP scope creation
    • Cisco Firewalls
      • Working knowledge of Cisco firewalls
        • Managing rules / ACL’s
        • Configuring NAT / PAT
        • Configuring / managing VPN features
        • DMZ management
  • Desired Technical Skills/Certification
    • CCNA
    • CompTIA Network +
    • CompTIA Security +
    • Cisco wireless technologies (Cisco wireless LAN controllers, lightweight access points)
    • Riverbed and Bluecoat WAN optimization appliances
    • Solarwinds network monitoring suite
    • Cisco Prime Infrastructure
    • NetBrain network monitoring tools

General Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work as both part of a team, as well as independently
  • Be detail oriented
  • Be organized and able to multitask
  • Be very dependable / reliable

Additional Requirements:

  • Travel
    • Be willing to travel
      • NY (Approximately every 2 months)
      • Satellite plants approximately twice a year
    • Be part of an after-hours on call rotation (one week per month)
      • Company phone and laptop will be issued
